Definition
First, let’s define what makes a UTV. A UTV is a type of powersports vehicle with four wheels that’s largely open to the air, although it may have half-doors or a canopy. It’s about a third of the size of a typical passenger car, but it’s operated similarly with a steering wheel and gas/brake pedals. UTVs are also equipped with seatbelts for safety, but riders should always wear a helmet just in case of an accident since there is no enclosure to the vehicle.
UTVs can seat anywhere from two to six people at a time in bucket- or bench-style seating arranged in rows of two. This seating arrangement has led to the alternate name of “side-by-sides” for the vehicle. UTVs come with storage space between the seats, as well as a cargo area in the rear of the vehicle for keeping tools, supplies and other necessities while you drive.
